It broke after five months : Krups KM1000 10-Cup Stainless-Steel Coffeemaker
I will admit that I did like it and it did a good job while it worked, but I bought this Krups coffee maker for $74, and it lasted for only 6 days. In those 6 days I only had one cup a day that means I had already paid over $12 for each cup that I had to make myself. I called the 800 number for the company and had, what I've found to be the usual qoute with service number now, which is the automatic operator tries to change to a real operator, the phone rings once then a minute of dead air before it cuts you off. This happened 4 times before I got through. I explained to the operator that the coffee maker was working fine until I came home one evening and it was getting no power at all. I had checked the outlet it was plugged into and tried it in two other outlets with no luck. She explained that the warranty required me to mail it at my own expense to an appliance shop in other state. She also said I should pay to insure it. I think that a company should be willing to stand behind its product and if there is a qoute they should be willing to pay the expense to have it repaired. If they had done that I would have been willing to send it for heal because it did a good job while it worked. As it happened I returned it to the store, who gave me a full refund, and will not buy other Krups product again as long as they are not willing to stand behind their work and accept the costs if there is a problem.
